Tips For You
*AVOID: Being the brightest or lightest or most colorful in the group.
*AVOID: Trendy clothes, this will limit your portrait's life.
*AVOID: Busy patterns, solids work best.
*AVOID: Bare arms whenever possible.
Black is great for indoor pictures, or in the evening. Unfortunately for outdoor pictures in the daylight it absorbs too much light and usually washes out the individual. White, pastels, blues, and earth tones are complimentary. Think of the shades of the sky and the beach. Try to limit the number of colors and keep everyone in one or two. In family photos matching exactly is preferred. In group photos (for professional use) coordinating is better.
For infants and children please feel free to bring favorite blankets, toys etc.. they can be used in photos or to distract if necessary.
Please let me know ahead what you desire for groupings. Example: whole family together, mother and daughter, grandparents alone, all the kids, individuals of the kids etc.. organizing ahead really ensures that we will cover everything you want.
Feel free to offer input to me during the shoot. If you have a "bad" side, feel like you are sweating, etc...tell me. If you have an idea for a shot, or interesting location in mind I want to know. Open communication will result in better photos!
All this said, I want to remind you that this is your portrait and you can wear what you want. I can make almost anything work. I have a knack for ending up with a great picture of everyone. People often tell me that they usually dislike photos of themselves, but love these. So relax and enjoy, I will guide you and we will have a great end result.
